SeniorLink Computer Club

SeniorLink is targeted toward people in their 50s and beyond with little or no exposure to computers. Because many seniors don't know the language or manual manipulation of the computer and its devices, it is hard for them to be successful in mainstream classes. We give them the practice and foundation they need to go on to real college classes and succeed.

  • Hands-on instruction in a peer-assisted environment
  • Small class sizes with no more than seven people
  • Taught by trained volunteers
  • Teaching manual was written for PSOP with six years of experience in teaching mature adults.
  • Classes include Introduction to Windows XP, Intermediate Windows, Intro to Office Applications, Print Shop essentials, Intro to the Internet, social media sites, such as Facebook, and e-mail fundamentals.

Volunteers are Needed

The SeniorLink Computer Club helps senior citizens and baby boomers learn computer skills at the computer labs in the Belleville PSOP Center and at the SWIC Sam Wolf Granite City Campus. Volunteer instructors are needed to assist with basic computer operating skills. To volunteer, you do not need to be licensed as a teacher. You need only to be familiar with the language of the computer, patient and sympathetic to the needs of the mature adult novice PC user and willing to donate two hours per week for a maximum of six weeks.

For more information, or to volunteer your time, please call Doris Olah 618-234-4410, ext. 7018.
