Police Academy Students

Law Enforcement

The Administration of Justice program offers degree and certificate opportunities for students who are interested in pursing a career in law enforcement or corrections. Certificate options also are available in private security. The college also offers police training through the Southwestern Illinois Police Academy for newly appointed police officers hired within the state of Illinois. Opportunities to attend the Police Academy also are available to candidates who meet the Police Academy Illinois Intern Program requirements. For an application or information about the Intern Program, call 618-235-2700, ext. 5396. All recruits and interns must pass the POWER test before entry into the Police Academy. 

Emergency Services

The Emergency Service programs prepare students for varying levels of pre-hospital emergency care, including First Responder, Emergency Medical Technician and Paramedic programs. The Paramedic program has degree and certificate options and requires a special application for admission. The paramedic certificate program is offered at Memorial Hospital in Belleville and at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.

Fire Services

The Fire Science program has a degree option for students that are not currently an active member of a fire department. Certificate and degree options are available for active fire department members, rescue team members or emergency medical service providers.
