Mission Success is a three-part program that provides valuable information about SWIC, your current academic skill levels and the courses you need to take to meet your goals.

Part 1: Welcome Session

In this group session, you will learn information about the college, resources and services, which can help you be a more successful student. The session also provides the opportunity to meet other students who are starting their college careers at SWIC.

Part 2: Assessment

To assess your skill levels in math, reading and language for proper placement in math and English courses, you will take the computerized COMPASS test. In some cases you might take ASSET, the paper version of the test.

Assessment is not pass or fail and will not prohibit you from entering the college. However, some Allied Health programs may require additional testing. See the college catalog for more details.

Since math and English involve reasoning, reading and writing skills, which are vital to success in most college classes, it's importatn to start at the right level.

Part 3: Individual Counseling

You are encouraged to meet with a counselor after your assessment to discuss your individual needs and academic plans. You will receive an individual interpretation of your assessment in preparation to register for classes.
